Coverage Summary

On June 25th, 2025, Countdown made its anticipated debut on Prime Video to an excited audience. For FoundMyJam (FMJ), that involvement started much earlier. On September 28, 2024, FMJ announced full coverage for Countdown resulting in a few anticipation articles, an in-depth feature done on Derek Haas and Jensen Ackles, and introductory features done on primary cast members Jessica Camacho, and Eric Dane. A couple of insight pieces were published examining Ackles as the Leading Man in the series and viewing his incredible talents through the lens of The Action Star Weโ€™ve Been Waiting For.

Promotion ramped up as elevation articles were written to focus on Countdown being a new branding opportunity for Haas and the showโ€™s potential to be Prime Videoโ€™s Next Big Hit. To round out earlier coverage about the cast, Violett Beane, Uli Latukefu and Elliot Knight were highlighted for their star power.

Attention and anticipation really intensified when Prime Video debuted the official trailer on May 28th, 2025, clocking in over 10 million views in only six short days, signaling a level of audience participation that few newly announced series ever achieve. Soon after, industry trade and entertainment news outlets (Variety, Entertainment Weekly) did some reporting on the upcoming series. The excitement culminated in the press junket red-carpet event in LA on June 17, 2025, flooding social media with the kind of content that kept fans well fed until the series dropped on Wednesday June 25, 2025.

FMJ was included in that press junket coverage and participated in interviews with both Jessica Camacho and Violett Beane. From that moment on fans really leaned into the show, dubbing Wednesdays as everyoneโ€™s favorite day as they waited for the next episode to drop. Weekly recaps were done with loving care, detailed attention and loads of photo stills and video excerpts for fans to enjoy.

An entire community built up around the show. Each week an episode would air, fans would jump online to talk about it, to speculate about what would happen next and to spread their own content until the next installment aired. We all rode the ebb and flow of streaming joy that brought us gritty entertainment delivered on three levels. First, we got the high-octane excitement delivered by the team, second, we were shown the evolutionary arcs of what it took to create such villains as Volchek and Todd. Thirdly, we were treated to the fantastic character development that exposed the vulnerability, tension, drama, romance and intrigue that kept everyone coming back week after week.

Besides the press junkets and weekly recaps, FMJ conducted additional interviews with Derek Haas, Ryan de Quintal, Joe Dinicol and Nick Moss. All of whom were gracious, kind and generous with not only their time, but also their memories and experiences.

Immediately following the penultimate episode, we published the Seasonโ€™s Best Performance Summary and the seasonโ€™s episode ranking articles, in anticipation of the finale which aired on September 3rd, 2025.

And oh, what an incredible cliff-hanger it was!

Once Countdown finished for the season, FMJ participated in the production of three videos combining additional interview coverage from Rachel Armstrong, Julie Craig, Merrick McCartha, Danny Minnick, Adam J. Harrington, Bogdan Yasinski and Rico Anderson, along with original video interview footage from Derek Haas, Joe Dinicol and Nicolay Moss. These were compiled into S1 Retrospective Part One, Part Two and the Bonus Reel. This effort, and the #SaveCountdown video set (thirteen of them) were done in collaboration with CountdownTVSeries.

On Friday October 10, 2025, Prime Video announced that Countdown was cancelled and would not be picked up for a second season. We shared the news in โ€œThe Clock Has Run Out for Countdown.โ€

My Thank You To Fans

Even now, eight months later, fans still shake their heads wondering why the show was cancelled when it consistently ranked high in viewer stats from the start. Besides the claims about weak global statistics, studios routinely make decisions based on information the audience has no knowledge of. I sensed that it left some fans with a vague feeling of loss. As I look back over the considerable coverage dedicated to the show, I also recall similar feelings. Sudden endings have a way of doing that. Coming back to ease this chapter of coverage closed has been a nostalgic trip back in time. While I say goodbye to this body of work, I can say Iโ€™m truly grateful for the incredible people I have met, the celebrities I have had the honor to interview, and the lessons learned along the way. It has all made the two-year endeavor worthwhile. But the absolute best part of this whole experience has been the fans.

The appreciation and the encouragement received from the fans of the show made the work a little more entertaining, the burden a little lighter and the sheer delight in discussing and debating the show, a weekly joy that I will forever be grateful for. We shared all the thrills, action, suspense, drama and romance that these actors brought to the screen. While their performances were deeply human and exceeded our expectations, sharing it all with fans is what made it fun!

My Thank You To The Creators

Before closing this chapter completely, I’d also like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the extraordinary work of the cast, crew and the creative team that brought Countdown to life. As audience members, we spent an hour each week enjoying the finished product, but behind every episode there were countless people whose craftsmanship made it all happen. Writers, actors, directors, editors, cinematographers, composers, make-up and costume designers, stunt performers, visual effects artists, and so many others, all contributed their talent and hard work to create something worth following, discussing, celebrating and supporting. You have my sincere thanks and appreciation.
