Anticipation Countdown Series-Jessica Camacho
Welcome to the next installment of our article series designed to showcase some cast and crew of the much anticipated Amazon MGM Studios series, Countdown. With a rumored release date of June 2025, these articles will give eager fans a closer look at the artists involved in bringing this show to life. Next up is Jessica Camacho.
Jessica Camacho is set to play Amber Oliveras. Her character has been defined as a Special Agent of the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) with 14 years on the job. Oliveras has participated in multiple undercover operations and has been described as a “badass who won’t take crap from anyone.” She’s a cop who does very well on her own, but is intrigued by the team and looks forward to the change of pace that will come with working alongside others.
A Little History
- Jessica Lisa Camacho was born on November 26, 1982, in Chicago.
- She was raised in Chicago, California and Florida.
- At a time when she was really questioning the trajectory of her life, a friend suggested she enrol in an acting class in St Petersburg, Florida. This was a defining moment for her which cemented her path as an actress.
- Life choices from that moment on, became a focused study of acting as an art form and the industry itself. She eventually studied at the American Conservatory of Theatre in San Francisco.
- She has worked very hard piecing together her own path to success, gaining experience doing commercials, theatre, film and television.
- One of her first big breaks in television came in 2009 when she played opposite Patrick Swayze in an episode of the Sony Pictures Television series, The Beast.
- Jessica’s industry resume is an impressive array of projects, having participated in some of the most popular shows on television, such as; Justified, Dexter, The Mentalist, Gossip Girl, Law & Order SVU, NCIS Los Angeles, Bones, Rizzoli & Isles, Longmire, Sleepy Hollow, The Flash, Taken, Watchmen, Bosch: Legacy, All Rise and SWAT.
- In 2019, at the Universal Film Festival, Jessica Camacho was nominated for Best Actress for her portrayal of “The Woman” in the short film “Blink” directed by Kayden Phoenix and written by Brent Alan Henry. The movie is about John Delacroix, an ambitious businessman who finds himself neglecting what is truly important in his life. After a sudden heart attack, a mysterious women grants him the time he spent blinking to go back to relive his greatest joys and struggles.

There is consensus on what television roles have elevated Jessica’s talent, notably those I’ve highlighted below. - I found it heartwarming that as a kid and young adult, Jessica loved many of the same shows that most of us did.
- She connected with the show “Good Times” and felt its essence was something she could identify with, finding the familiarity that vibed with facets of her own childhood growing up in Chicago.
- A movie that really impacted Jessica as a child was The Wizard of Oz. Judy Garland’s role as Dorothy let shine the elements of hope and sparkle that touched her young heart.
- As she got older, she could relate most with and felt a real kinship to the female characters that made up the long running, beloved and timeless television show, The Golden Girls.

Emily Lopez – All Rise
- All Rise is a scripted drama series from Warner Bros TV and CBS TV Studios that showed it’s audience a close-up look at the personal and professional lives of the judges, lawyers, clerks, bailiffs and cops who work at an L.A. County courthouse.
- Jessica Camacho played the role of Emily Lopez, an attorney with the Los Angeles County Public Defender’s office.
- She did a great deal of research about what it is to be a public defender. She learned about the court system and the challenges faced by public defenders as they work to bring balance and justice to average people facing difficult odds. She was able to see the kind of dedication and commitment it takes to work within the boundaries of the legal system. All of which informed her performance.
- Jessica describes her character Emily Lopez as a multi-faceted individual who is endeared with fierce and quirky traits; being a little controlling, messy, funny, awkward, excitable, but most of all, at the center of the fight for all those she defends.
- All Rise ran for two seasons on CBS and was picked up for a third season by the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN).
- Jessica starred as Emily Lopez for all three seasons.
- Side Note: Jessica mentioned that one of her favorite shows is Euphoria, which stars one of her co-stars on Countdown, Eric Dane.
Santana – Taken
- The NBC Series Taken follows a former Green Beret, Bryan Mills, as he deals with a personal tragedy that shakes his world. As he fights to overcome the incident and exact revenge, Mills is pulled into a career as a deadly CIA operative, a job that awakens his very particular, and very dangerous, set of skills.
- Jessica Camacho arrives in the 2nd season as character Santana.
- Santana is a master negotiator and former Army quartermaster discharged from the service for misconduct. She is recruited by Christina Hart, Special Deputy Director of National Intelligence to help rescue Bryan Mills from a Mexican black-site prison.
- Jessica Camacho plays Santana in all sixteen episodes of Taken’s second season, before its cancellation in May of 2018.
Gypsy – The Flash
- The Flash is well nominated and awarded series about an American superhero developed by Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg, and Geoff Johns, airing on The CW.
- After being struck by lightning, Barry Allen wakes up from a coma to discover he’s been given the power of super speed, becoming the Flash, and fighting crime in Central City.
- Jessica Camacho joins the series as Gypsy, appearing in ten episodes through seasons three and four.
